A Simple Way to Measure How Your Brain Is Doing

At NeuroCentered Wellness, we believe in supporting your brain at the source — and in helping you see the change as it happens. That’s why the Brain Gauge is part of our practice.

The Brain Gauge is a small, mouse-sized device that gently measures how your brain processes information. In about 15–20 minutes, it gives us an objective, easy-to-read snapshot of your brain health — a meaningful complement to your Microcurrent Neurofeedback sessions.

Now you don’t just feel the difference. You can track it.

What Is the Brain Gauge?

The Brain Gauge uses gentle fingertip vibrations to measure how your brain is functioning. Two small tips rest against your index and middle finger and “buzz” in specific patterns. A guided app then asks what you felt, and your responses are analyzed using clinically-grounded neuroscience.

It’s quick, comfortable, and completely non-invasive — no needles, no discomfort, nothing to study for. All you do is pay attention to what you feel.

Developed by Cortical Metrics, a company co-founded by faculty from the University of North Carolina’s medical school, the technology behind the Brain Gauge draws on decades of neuroscience research and has been featured in dozens of peer-reviewed publications.

The 8 Areas It Measures

Each assessment looks at eight essential components of how your brain takes in and handles information:

  • Speed — how quickly your brain reacts to what it senses
  • Accuracy — how precisely it detects small differences between sensations
  • Focus — your ability to concentrate on the task at hand
  • Fatigue — how quickly your brain tires when it’s working hard
  • Plasticity — your brain’s ability to adapt to change
  • Sequencing (TOJ) — keeping track of the order of events
  • Timing Perception — keeping track of the duration of events
  • Connectivity — how well different regions of your brain communicate and coordinate

Together, these roll up into a single, easy-to-understand mental fitness score called your CorticalMetric — a snapshot of where your brain is today.

How We Use It Here

We use the Brain Gauge in two ways throughout your time with us:

As part of your evaluation. Before you begin, your Brain Gauge assessment gives us an objective starting point — a clear baseline of how your brain is functioning across all eight areas. This helps us understand your unique profile and personalize your care.

As a training tool during your MCN sessions. As you move through Microcurrent Neurofeedback, we use the Brain Gauge to check in on how things are shifting. It’s a window into your progress that goes beyond how you’re feeling day to day.

Watch Your Progress Over Time

One of the things people love most is being able to see their journey. Your results are tracked over time, so you and your provider can watch how your scores trend from session to session.

The shifts that MCN supports — calmer mood, sharper focus, more emotional steadiness — often build gradually. The Brain Gauge helps make that quiet, natural progress visible.

Why It Pairs So Well With Microcurrent Neurofeedback

MCN helps your brain release stuck patterns and return to a healthier rhythm. The Brain Gauge gives that process something it doesn’t usually have: objective, measurable feedback.

Instead of relying only on how you feel, you get a clear, repeatable picture of how your brain is functioning — and how it’s changing as you go. It’s a natural fit for the kind of root-level, brain-based support we specialize in.
